Kalahari Conservation Society (KCS)

(KCS) is the longest serving environmental Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Botswana
dedicated to protecting Botswana’s unique biodiversity and community wellbeing. It was
established in 1982 in recognition of the pressures on Botswana’s wildlife and the environment,
and the need to preserve this magnificence for future generations. Therefore, KCS’s purpose is
to effectively advocate and lobby Government and other stakeholders in policy development as
well as collaborating with the private sector and civil society in contributing to the conservation
of Botswana’s environment and wildlife resources. KCS is a membership-based organisation,
funded by annual membership as well as domestic, regional and international grant support in
realising its mandate.
